2018 Small Lot Merlot
Aromas of red currant, black cherry and plum with hints of sweet tobacco and ark chocolate lend well to the structureal core of dusty tannins and a lignering, textured finish.
Horse Heaven Hills
red currant, black cherry, plum & sweet tobacco
The fruit for this wine is grown in our estate vineyards in the Horse Heaven Hills. The fruit is exposed to dappled sunlight, allowing for uniform ripening and flavor devleopment. Well balanced crop levels have allowed us to create wines with great depth and concentration.
These grapes were harvested and sorted in the vineyards with our "Selective Harvester" to allow for maximum hang-time and flavor development. The fruit was not cushed in order to preserve as much whole berry as possible. We fermented the fruit in stainless steel tanks with a combination of pumpovers and rack and returns to control extraction and flavors. After fermentation, the wine was racked to a combination of new and neutral French oak for malolactic fermentation. The wine was barrel aged for 20 months.
