2019 Small Lot Malbec
This Malbec opens with notes of cherry, anise and blueberry with subtle undertones of leather and a hint of coffee and cloves. The powdery, dusty tannins lend structure while the jammy mid-palate balances its fresh acidity, finishing with velvety, bright fruit.

Vineyard Notes
The fruit for this wine is grown at our acclaimed Spice Cabinet Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills. This vineyard sits on a southeast slope above the Columbia River. The orientation of the block allows for morning sun exposure of the fruit, while avoiding the intense afternoon rays. Well balanced crop levels have allowed us to create wines with great depth and concentration.
Production Notes
These grapes were harvested and sorted in the vineyards with our "Selective Harvester" to allow for maximum hangtime and flavor development. The fruit was not crushed in order to preserve as much whole berry as possible. At the winery, individual lots were fermente in stainless steel tanks. Twice daily pumpovers allowed gentle extraction of color and tannins. After fermentation, the wine was racked to 13% new American oak for malolactic fermentation. The wine was barrel aged for 20 months.
